Press Release Regarding the Partnership Between Urbeez and Metro

Electrifying the most urban delivery fleets?

That's the challenge that the startup Urbeez has taken on by offering an electric delivery service. Imagine a city freed from its noise and pollution, with less congestion for smoother traffic... the promise is beautiful!

The explosion of e-commerce, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, marks a real turning point for the online retail sector. Along with this comes a steadily increasing demand for delivery services. Furniture, household appliances, clothing, groceries... Today, you can order everything and often expect same-day delivery. But delivery in cities is becoming increasingly complex, even very difficult. According to Urbeez founder Angelino Capretti, "100% of urban logistics flows are achievable with electric vehicles. It's about assigning the right utility vehicle to the right order and optimizing fleets." The startup, which has been operating in Belgium since 2020, is also present in Luxembourg, Amsterdam, and Paris.

An eco-logistics that hits the mark

Today, more than 250 couriers deliver parcels daily for Urbeez. And the demand is broad: bakeries, pharmacies, caterers, hardware stores, and even your Metro newspaper in the Brussels-Capital stations. To decarbonize delivery in cities, the startup has vehicles of all kinds: a hundred bicycles, dozens of scooters, and a few vans... all 100% electric.

The advantages of this type of delivery are numerous: reducing urban traffic through the simultaneous use of different types of vehicles, but also delivering more quickly with warehouses in the heart of cities, often nestled in public parking lots. Furthermore, Urbeez focuses on the de-uberization of couriers, a topic that frequently sparks controversy. "All our couriers have employment contracts and insurance. They are also trained in the best practices of the profession," assures Angelino Capretti, CEO of Urbeez.

For the recharging of its vehicles, Urbeez relies on the network of electric charging stations currently being developed in city centers, all powered by green energy.

An environmentally friendly delivery

Urbeez offers a solution for businesses of all sizes. The company already works with major retail players such as Brico, Exki, MediaMarkt, Colruyt.

In the era of the climate change debate, companies are asked to make efforts to reduce their environmental impact as much as possible. Through this service, these companies opt for responsible delivery and can now reduce their CO2 footprint by using faster and less polluting means of transportation than traditional vehicles.

To celebrate its second anniversary, Urbeez is now launching a consultancy service for businesses, to accompany them towards sustainable mobility. "The goal is for all companies with urban logistics flows to become carbon-neutral," announces Angelino Capretti.

About the founder

After an experience at Tier Mobility, the self-service micro-mobility company, Angelino Capretti realized that it was impossible to find logistics companies operating exclusively with 100% electric vehicles. He then decided to develop the service internally, and it was at this moment that he recognized the opportunities in the electric delivery market. Today, more and more companies require green logistics (tenders, to meet ISO standards, etc.), not to mention municipalities that want to promote the development of sustainable last-mile logistics.

With Urbeez, we aim to restore nobility to logistics by electrifying the entire network and improving the services of a sector under pressure," declares Angelino Capretti
